BASDA

Belmin joins the Business Application Software Developers Association

Belmin Group Ltd is pleased to announce that it has joined BASDA, the Business Application Software Developers Association.

BASDA represents more than 250 of the world's leading applications software developers and is the acknowledged voice of the software applications industry. It is recognised by the European Commission, the UK Government and the United Nations.

BASDA is involved in setting international standards. Since its inception it has worked on VAT, EDI, EMU, IFRS and eBusiness. Whenever new developments and regulations affect the business & accounting software industry, BASDA works with the ruling bodies to ensure that any changes are made with the industry's consultation and co-operation. As a result, BASDA has forged strong relationships with many government departments and now sits on most EU and UK Government initiatives and working parties.

BASDA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with HM Customs & Excise and regularly works with HM Treasury and the Inland Revenue. BASDA's research is assisted by the EU Commission, FEE (the Federation of European Accountants), APACS (the Association of Payment Clearing Services) and the British Bankers Association, amongst others. BASDA is acknowledged by the OECD, the leading 40 industrialised nations, as the representative body for the software industry world-wide and sits on the OECD Taxation Steering Committee.

BASDA has worked very closely with the UK Government on the implementation of its GovTalk initiative using the Government Gateway portal to receive information for Inland Revenue and HM Customs & Excise. It helped develop the Self Assessment citizen filing over the Internet as well as the Payroll end-of-year PAYE, and Corporation Tax returns. It is working closely with Inland Revenue on all PAYE and NI submissions, with HM Customs & Excise on VAT and Intrastat submissions and with Office of National Statistics, ONS, on ad-hoc statistical returns.
